To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday)

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

To request a routine appointment in the next 7 days

  • Phone us Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm (Broadway Surgery is open until 9pm on Wednesdays and 1pm on Thursdays)
  • Visit the surgery and speak to a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm (Broadway Surgery is open until 9pm on Wednesdays and 1pm on Thursdays)
  • Use the NHS app or myGP to book an appointment online or use this service for clinical triage. This is available in the morning.

Evening & Weekend Appointments

We are now providing access to appointments on evenings and weekends, working with other local practices, which can be booked via our reception team and cancelled during opening hours.

Outside of our opening hours, you can call our telephone lines and you will be diverted to the surgery providing the enhanced service. 

  • Monday - Friday 6:30pm to 8:30pm
  • Saturday 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday 9am to 12pm

These local practices are participating in collaborative working to offer their patients access to appointments outside of normal core hours, so your appointment could be offered at any of the following practices:

Staff at the locality clinics will provide a range of services from Practice Nurses along with pre-bookable GP and other Health Care Professional appointments. Please note that once hub availability is full you may be directed to an alternative service. 

Please also be aware that the administrative staff working at the locality surgeries do not have access to patients full medical records and therefore will not be able to answer queries on referrals, prescriptions, test results, private work and entries to medical records. 

Your Appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • By phone
  • Face to face at the surgery
  • On a video call
  • By text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

If You Need Help With Your Appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there's a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs

Cancelling or Changing an Appointment

If you need to cancel your appointment you can:

  • Phone us Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm (Broadway Surgery is open until 9pm on Wednesdays and 1pm on Thursdays)
  • Reply with the word CANCEL to your reminder text message
  • Visit the surgery and speak to a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm (Broadway Surgery is open until 9pm on Wednesdays and 1pm on Thursdays)
  • Cancel using online services, such as the NHS App

Please cancel your appointment no later than one hour of the appointment time, so that your appointment can be offered to another patient.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11am.

We believe home visiting makes clinical sense and is the best way of giving a medical opinion in cases involving:-

  • The terminally ill
  • The truly housebound for whom travel to the surgery by car would cause a deterioration in their medical condition or unacceptable discomfort.

After an initial assessment over the telephone a seriously ill patient may be helped by a GP’s attendance. However the GP may advise the patient, or person with the patient, to ring 999 to receive the appropriate immediate care. Examples of such situations are:-

  •        Heart attack
  •        Severe shortness of breath
  •        Severe haemorrhage

In most of the following cases, to visit would not be an appropriate use of a GP’s time:-

  • Common symptoms of childhood (fevers, cold, cough, earache, headache, diarrhoea/vomiting and most cases of abdominal pain). These patients are usually well enough to travel by car. It is not necessarily harmful to take a child with a fever outside. These children may not be fit to travel by 'bus or to walk, but car transport may be available from friends, relatives or taxi firms.
  • Adults with common problems (such as cough, sore throat, influenza, back pain and abdominal pain) are also readily transportable by car to a doctor's premises.
  • Common problems in the elderly (such as mobility problems, joint pain and general malaise) would also best be treated by consultation at a doctor's premises.

It is not a doctor's responsibility to arrange such transport.

If You Need Help When We Are Closed

If you need medical advice outside normal surgery hours please phone 111.

The NHS 111 service is staffed by a team of fully trained advisers, supported by experienced nurses. They will ask you questions to assess your symptoms, then give you the healthcare advice you need or direct you to the local service that can help you.

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally. 

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

  • To treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Training Practice

We are a training practice for GP registrars and Foundation Year 2 doctors. We also undertake teaching of undergraduate medical students.

The trainees sometimes use video cameras during their consultations. You will be asked for written consent to video your consultation.

Full details will be provided at the time.

Please note that students, foundation doctors and registrars will always be supervised by a GP Partner during each session they are in the practice.
